challenge.
I started with experimentation with how to layer the pages. Since I was saddle binding them, every page was a different size. Each spread had to be meticulously measured in order to get the stripe effect I wanted, which allows the user to quickly flip through the handbook. I used small, flexible sheets of paper so that the user could tuck it where they need it or bookmark a specific page.

I handmade around 12 of these handbooks to sell at OffRegister, a print/book fair located in Santa Barbara. With this handbook, the user can quickly read through my advice. In emergencies, the user can hold the book up to their face which reveals a stone-faced back cover, making this handbook absolutely essential to have on hand.
