This project includes a book cover for “There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly” by Simms Taback. The objective was to create four 7" x 10" illustrations meaning front/back cover and a illustrated spread. I wanted to play with perspective, color, and pattern while keeping a humorous theme suitable for children. I wanted to follow Richard Scarry and numerous other cartoonist's styles.

Instead of the old lady being the focus, I wanted to subvert the attention and have the animals being the victims as the focus. This would allow me to create recurring characters. Below are idea sketches and in-progress work.
